PERSONALITY IN DESIGN

Your home is a reflection of you. Every design we create is completely curated to our clients’ unique personalities. An exploration of personality in design.

As designers, our goal is to not only create spaces that you can live comfortably in but to also create a space that elevates you and allows you to live in your true self. It’s important to us to get to know our clients throughout the design process as a person, a family, or a business and mirror that in our creations.

We’re sharing two VERY different projects we designed at the same time for two VERY different clients. Both of these projects capture our clients’ unique personalities and needs. One is a minimal, mid-century home renovation in San Diego’s Solana Del Mar inspired by its surrounding landscape for a family of adventure seekers. The other is a funky, yet traditional home in the heart of San Francisco for a very artistic family with an eclectic taste and an appreciation for color and art. As you read below, you will discover the personalities that lead each of these designs, and and you will see how we create spaces unique to the client. Our portfolio is diverse. We design for the client and every client is different.

PROJECT MID-CENTURY LIGHT

With hectic lives and 4 boys these clients wanted simple and serene interiors. One of the main goals while renovating this mid-century home was to maintain the existing structural elements while creating new, and impactful details. This kitchen is a great example of this marriage. Adding the new picture window at the sink allows for the existing space to feel more expansive. The masculine lines of the home are softened by adding a rounded island, balancing in the feminine. Incorporating the natural wood tones from the cabinetry, warms the heart of this home.

Marrying the new and the old designs now flood the home with natural light and highlights the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets from both sides of the property. The moment you walk into this home, the floor-to-ceiling windows, doors, and skylights are like a warm hug from the outside.

The natural finishes and the interior details are an ode to nature’s color palette, honoring the gorgeous landscape surrounding the home and allowing a family of 6 to thrive.

PROJECT SAN FRANTASTIC

This home, on the other hand is an eclectic balance of color, pattern and texture. The kitchen in particular is no exception of this, with it’s decorative tiled walls, bold colored cabinets and one-of-a-kind furniture finds. When we started designing this space we wanted to highlight our clients love for color and appreciation for traditional design.

Our client wasn’t afraid to take risks when it came to design choices, they trusted the process and allowed us to explore and experiment. Painting the entire powder bathroom a glossy plum purple and adding cloud wallpaper on the ceiling is just one example of this. Their personality really shines through in every room of this home. Mission accomplished.
