LATEST CREATION - SAN FRANTASTIC

A project four plus years in the making that almost didn’t make it. A story of will and determination rooted in a love for San Francisco.

Now, this is a story all about how our client’s lives got turned upside down.

Our clients bought their future dream home in the fall of 2017 when their daughter was 6 months old. They just moved in this past fall as she entered kindergarten. Though the house needed a LOT of TLC (the former owner called it a “mullet”) it’s been lovingly restored into a family home to accommodate their large, extended Greek and Italian families plus their growing immediate family by adding a sweet boy this past holiday in 2023. They first fell in love with the home’s view as it’s situated on a beautiful hilltop between San Francisco’s Noe Valley & Castro neighborhoods. They spent a lot of time mentally re-visiting that view over the following 4.5 years as they slogged through the City approval process. This four-story home is a jewel box filled with color, unique furniture pieces, fabulous art and some “frantastic” clients that became family throughout the process.

The clients are thrilled to enjoy their forever home with their family as they settle in. They faced significant city planning delays of 3 years. They relied on veteran city architects and contractors deeply familiar with San Francisco’s planning code, as well as sympathetic city planners who acknowledged the byzantine "features" of the city's permitting process. Then they weathered the pandemic and supply chain challenges, waiting 7 months for windows at one point. Keeping focused on their vision for their multi-generational home in the city to host family from Greece for months at a time, they never gave up on their vision of a home that combined architectural features of their favorite cities, New York and London, while paying homage to their SF neighborhood.

Their lovely little daughters' touch on everything, is what makes this home special to us - from her approval on the whimsical wallpaper to the bright pink front door.  Art is also a huge part of the family's life, so it was important to us to sprinkle the home with their collection of pieces from international artists like Alex Prager, Peter Mars, and Jacky Tsai and locals, like Fnnch and Lucky Rapp. This was the cherry on top for us. This project will always be close to our hearts for many reasons. The details, the trust, the courage, the perseverance, but most importantly the relationship that grew from such a collaboration. Cheers! We did it.
